Our Wish List
Our goal as a Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary unit is, of course, to help Disabled American Veterans, especially those in care facilities; and we are willing to work hard to do this. But we can't do it alone, we need support from others who feels as we do .... that these brave men and women have served to keep the United States Of American and it's people free and that they deserve respect and help when needed from all the people who have benefited from their service.
Our activities require time, money, supplies and effort. Please consider helping us!! Below is our 'wish list' which will be revised as needed. Any and all contributions are so very much appreciated. Please e-mail or call if you can help.
1. Members - Our unit is only as strong as our membership! Please consider joining us! I promise you we will make you feel very welcome! There are so many ways each individual can help. Collectively, our dues (only $15 per yr) help National DAVA work to help Disabled American Veterans on a National and Political level. So just by joining you have made a great contribution! And on a local level there are many activities, some where you wouldn't even need to leave your home, that could really help out!
2. Money - And every little bit helps! And remember, your donations are tax deductable! You can use the paypal button to use a credit card or by mail. And THANK YOU!

3. Televisions & Radios - We know this is a biggie. But our dream is for each Veteran in a nursing home to have a television to watch in their room. It doesn't have to be big or new, just remote controled. Radios would be nice too! This is HIGH on our priority list and we'll try to find a place where you could order on line and have delivered to a veteran!
4. VCR & DVD - Both players and tapes or DVDs. The nursing homes have a televsion for those that can come to the 'common room'. A movie library would be a nice thing for them to have! If you'd enjoy the movie, they would too!
5. Books & Magazines - We'd like to start a small library at each care facility. Large print books are the best but we're currently checking into supplying them with reading glasses so regular print will be easier for some. They don't need to be new!!! Your old books and magazines are welcome here!
6. Games - playing cards, yahtzee pads, dice, anything you think they might like to play with.
7. Ink Cartridges - For whatever printer we end up with. AND we can make good use of your old empty cartridges as well! If we can collect enough of them we can trade them for credit at an office supply store!
8. Office Supplies - Printer paper, card stock paper, poster boards (We do a lot of posters!) markers, staples, envelopes, etc.
9. Postage Stamps & Stationary - We use a lot of postage as well as giving them and stationary to Veterans who are patients in Care Facilities.
10. Christmas Trees - We decorate Christmas Trees and deliver them to nursing homes or any Veteran or family with children who doesn't have a tree. Any color and any size is great!
11. Decorations - Christmas decorations of all kinds and other holidays too! They don't have to be new! Just pretty!
12. Old Christmas Cards - Please send us the fronts of your used Christmas Cards! We will give them to school students and they can make Christmas Cards to be delivered to Veterans! A wonderful way to recycle those beautiful greetings!
13. Digital Camera - One member has a digital camera but we can't have it every place at all times. We recently missed taking photos of a parade and we wish we could have shared photos of it with you!
14. Computer Software - We are not even really sure what the name would be! We'd like to be able to print newsletters that fold and are mailable. We're currently searching for software to help us do this. Does anyone know the name of a product that would do this? If so, please let us know! We'd really like to have that program!
15. Craft Items - If we had enough crafts we could participate in local craft shows to help raise funds! Any and all kinds are welcome!!!
16. Misc Items - If we can't use it or know a veteran who can, we'll have a yard sale! Either way, your misc items can be put to good use!
17. Storage Space - If you are local, we could use a place to store yard sale items! Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to have a couple of yard sales annually!
